Sheila Cockrel, who sat on the Detroit City Council from 1994-2009, believes passage of Poposal P, the charter revision proposal, could spell doom for the city Detroit and throw it back into bankruptcy by putting an immense burden on the budget.
Cockrel is part of a group of local business and political leaders which opposes the measure, which could go on the Aug. 3 primary ballot. The state Supreme Court could rule on that any day. The proposal includes addressing the digital divide in the city, improving water affordability and creating a reparations task force.
Cockrel talks with Craig Fahle about the measure and the harm it could do.
