It's back.
The 2.9-mile Detroit People Mover, which shut down for two years during the pandemic, resumed limited service on Friday. Rides, normally 75 cents, are free for 90 days.
In what's called a "soft opening," the autonated monorail stops at six of 13 stations. Stops will be added in coming weeks, according to a press release.
For now, trains stop at Michigan, Huntington Place, West Riverfront, Millender Center, Greektown and Grand Circus Park.
Other changes to the 35-year-old system include two renamed stops. The former Joe Louis Arena Station is now West Riverfront Station and Convention Center became Huntington Place Station.
The city-run service recommends that riders wear face masks.
Here's the station hours for now:
- Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m.– 10 p.m.
- Sunday: Closed
