
A woman driving home from a Christmas celebration with her two children on I-94 near Mt. Elliott on Detroit's east side early Thursday morning was shot and wounded, Michigan State Police said. The children were not hurt.
“Currently, we don’t know why the driver was shot at and do not have any information on the suspect or suspect vehicle.” said Lt Mike Shaw in a statement. “While detectives are using all the technology available to investigate this shooting."
Police said the driver was shot once and the vehicle had multiple bullet holes. Shell casings were found on the freeway.
The victim called authorities about 1:40 a.m. to report that she'd been shot.
She was taken to the hospital for treatment and was expected to survive, Lt. Shaw tells Deadline Detroit. Family members retrieved the children.
