A woman driving the wrong way Sunday around 3:15 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-96 near M.L. King Blvd. in Detroit died in a head-on crash, the Michigan State Police said.
When troopers arrived on scene they saw a sedan and dark colored SUV, both with heavy front-end damage.
The wrong-way driver in the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Multiple occupants in the SUV were treated at two local hospitals.
Michigan State Lt Mike Shaw said Sunday investigators were waiting for the medical examiner report to see if the wrong-way driver was impaired or had a medical condition.
