Poll Shows Majority in Michigan Favor an Independent Governor With No Affiliation to the Major Parties

A poll conducted by the Detroit Regional Chamber and the Glengariff Group, Inc. shows the majority of Michigan voters are open to electing an independent governor with no affiliation to the Democratic or Republican party, WJR reports.

Of course, that's good news for Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, a Democrat who is running for governor as an Independent.

The recent poll found that that 63.4 percent of 600 voters agreed with the statement:

 “Neither party is producing the kind of candidates that can get anything done. We should elect an independent governor that is not affiliated with either party that would be forced to work with both sides to get something done – even if it means the political party I usually prefer loses the governor’s race.”

Some Democrats are angry that Duggan decided to run as an Independent. They fear he'll drain votes from the Democratic candidate and make it easier for a Republic
